Plato and the gods

The attitudes of the philosopher against the Olympian gods and the god conceived asclassical Greece. The legacy of Hellenic mythology.
One could argue that Plato did not deny the profound meaning of divinity.

Plato "attacked the popular conception of the gods rather than the gods themselves."

On the other hand, denied the rationalization of myths, that is, the naturalistic explanationof the mythical stories (Phaedrus, 229 c), which leads to a contradiction to the provisions in Republic, 378 d.
